CON Illusion!! Spoilers!

So, the new CON book Illusion came out today. I started reading it at about 4:30 pm, and finished it at 11:30. I just couldn't put it down. The way she brought so many things together that had been up in the air. We finally got to learn more about Kody, though most of it I already suspected. But it was confirmed that she is the daughter of Bethany and Styxx. It mentions her brothers Ari and Urian on several occasions. As well as Ash being her uncle. It was nice to finally have confirmation of it all though.

Also, if you were paying very close attention. It tells you that Braith is Apollymi. Not only that, but the first Malachi was Apollymi's son. If you remember in Styxx; Archon mentions what happened with Apollymi's first child. So that means that in reality, Nick is Ash's nephew.

We don't get many more details about Calab, but I believe that Son of No One will answer many of those questions. I really can't wait to see where she is going to go with Xev.

The things we learned about Kody and the strides that we made with Nick are amazing, I just wish she had touched a little on the timeline shift. I know it is technically a "prequel" to the Dark- Hunter series, but it would still be good to know.

Very anxious for Defiant and can't wait to see where she takes our young friend. Can't wait to see the culmination of where she is going to take all of these different aspects.

  1. Spoilers!

Just finished reading Illusion myself, and so far this is probably my favorite of the CON series. There were times when I laughed out loud (Oh, Topher, lol), and I nearly cried for Kody's losses.

I was glad to see confirmation of Kody's parents (and yes, I had suspected as much there, having read Styxx and Dark Bites), though it was sad to read about what happened to them. What surprised me, though, was just how far into the future Kody originated from (I had it in my head that she had been born MUCH sooner than that), I was also surprised to find out just what exactly she was (gotta say, like Nick, I never saw that coming).

A question that lurks in my mind, though, is whether or not Tory (and Bas and Theri) figure at all into the timeline that Kody comes from. I know that cousins were mentioned, but not by name, but there was no mention of Tory whatsoever. (Nor Lydia, for that matter.) Which makes me wonder if Ash had ever been married in that timeline, or if he had been, and Tory had already died. Oh, the questions there! =)

Ah yes, Braith is definitely Apollymi, as Set is most definitely Rezar (some of Kody's thoughts on Rezar were rather amusing). What I found interesting, though, was the subtle confirmation of Cam's identity (though I'd figured as much after reading House of the Rising Son, in Dark Bites--and to think, she's been "hiding" in plain sight all this time!).

As for the timeline shift ... actually, I was okay with not seeing information on that, as it seemed to me that the original timeline of the future was being established in this book. I could be wrong, but that was my impression, anyway. Hopefully, we will begin to see impacts on the future in upcoming CON books.

Xev certainly intrigues me. As does Cadegan. =)

*Sigh* And now we must wait a year for Defiant ... definitely looking forward to it!
